Essential safety work at St Ives Station Car Park

Posted on: August 1st, 2018 by carnoncontracting

Carnon Contracting has recently completed extensive essential repairs and stabilisation works to the embankment face in St Ives Station carpark on behalf of Cormac. The embankment, which ranges between 12m and 16m high, had been showing signs of structural instability in places.

A total of 485no ground anchorages have been drilled into the rock face to secure the surface to more stable layers beneath. The installation of rockfall netting, cables and plates along with areas of corbelling at lower levels has completed the stabilisation project.

Installation of the anchors has been supplemented with a layer of reinforced sprayed concrete to give added stability and protection against further deterioration.
