Falmouth piling contract nears completion

Carnon Contracting are currently on site installing 195 no. 219mm diameter Odex piles to facilitate the construction of a commercial development at the Bickland Industrial estate in Falmouth.

Midas Construction are the principal contractor, with Carnon Contracting working for Morcom Construction Ltd who have been appointed to carry out the ground works package. The site was levelled using an earthworks cut and fill exercise, and then piles were installed through the fill material to found in the Mylor slate formation beneath.

The piles are end bearing and range in depths between 6m to 19m. They are reinforced with either a central 25mm bar or, where piles have lateral loads, 6x16mm diameter reinforcement cages are installed up to 8m in length.

The contract duration is four weeks, and due to complete this month on programme.
